WhatsApp seems to be on a launch spree. It announced a slew of new features just last week, and now it is rolling out a new shopping button on the platform for business accounts. It would enable you to directly open the catalogue of products and start shopping within the app.
This new shopping button is available across the world and will replace the voice call button. To find the voice call button, you can tap on the call button to select either a voice or video call.
Earlier, you were required to click into the business’ profile to see if the business had a catalogue, but now you will see the shopping button so that you can directly browse products and start shopping. This will help businesses to have their products discovered and increase sales.
WhatsApp claims that more than 175 million people message a WhatsApp Business account every day, and more than 40 million people view a business’ catalogue each month, including more than 3 million in India. A survey had recently suggested that 76 per cent of adults in India say, “I am more likely to do business with/purchase from a company that I can contact via messaging than one that I cannot.”
With this new shopping button, the company wants to make the shopping experience easier for WhatsApp users and help businesses to connect with more customers. It should be noted that this is exclusive to WhatsApp Business accounts only.
